Mid brain
ā¢ The midbrain is located between the thalamus/hypothalamus of the forebrain and pons of the hindbrain.
ā¢ Posterior part of mid brain is tectum.
ā¢ It contains both grey and white matter.
ā¢ The dorsal portion of the
midbrain consists mainly of four round swellings (lobes) called CORPORA QUADRIGEMINA.
ā¢ A canal called the CEREBRAL AQUEDUCT passes through the midbrain.
ā¢ MIDBRAIN is related with vision and auditory function.
ā¢ The corpora quadrigemina are reflex centers involving vision and hearing the reflex centres of eye movement and auditory responses.
ā¢ Midbrain basically connects the forebrain and the hind brain.
